초록

Objective: This study verifies the influence of parental abuse on non-suicidal self-injury among out-of-school adolescents and the moderated mediation effect of anxiety by social support. Methods: This study tested research hypotheses for total, mediation, and moderated mediation effects by utilizing a nationally selected sample of out-of-school adolescents and the PROCESS Macro method. Results: First, parental abuse had a positive significant influence on non-suicidal self-injury. Second, a partial mediation effect of anxiety was found. The level of parental abuse increased the level of anxiety, which in turn increased the level of non-suicidal self-injury. Third, the mediation effect of parental abuse on non-suicidal self-injury through anxiety was moderated by social support. Specifically, the mediation effect became larger when the level of social support decreased. Conclusions: Based on the results of verifying the research hypotheses, this study discusses strategies to deal with non-suicidal self-injury among out-of-school adolescents.
