Design a Blockchain-Based Platform for Trustworthy Internal Document Management

초록

Traditional internal document management systems (DMS) suffer from inherent limitations related to single points of failure, opacity, and vulnerability to data tampering. This paper presents the design of a novel platform that leverages the core principles of blockchain technology—immutability, transparency, and decentralized trust—to create a trustworthy and secure environment for organizational document handling. The proposed architecture features a hybrid storage model, separating document content (off-chain) from immutable metadata and access control lists (on-chain). Smart contracts are utilized to automate document lifecycle workflows, including registration, versioning, and granular access approvals. Furthermore, the design incorporates robust mechanisms for data integrity verification, comprehensive auditability, and enhanced system resilience, notably by integrating Shamir’s Secret Sharing (SSS) for critical key management. This design blueprint aims to provide organizations with a resilient and auditable foundation for managing sensitive internal documents, addressing modern compliance and security requirements.
