In this study, a method was developed to maintain the optimal image quality in clinics by dividing the quality control of digital images in digital radiography (DR). The quality control state of 25 Korean hospitals equipped with DR was assessed by a questionnaire. Based on the answers, experiments were carried out by DR. In the DR, the number of circles of a chest phantom was measured, and analyzed while varying the calibration time and temperature of the detector. The results in the DR, under identical conditions, when the temperature of the detector was maintained at 25 degrees C (optimal temperature) in the lung, the number of the circles of the chest phantom was 11 when it was not calibrated but it was 15 when calibrated. Identical results were obtained in the heart and the abdomen despite the different number of circles.
